Can I have more than one RBS current account?
Yes, you can open as many RBS current accounts as you like. However, you should always check out the competition and you need to be wary of opening multiple accounts just to benefit from features such as overdrafts.
How do I open a current account with RBS?
You can open an RBS current account either online or by visiting your local branch. During the application, you’ll be asked to provide details about your job and address etc. You’ll also need to provide proof of your identity and address. Once they’ve received and accepted your application, you’ll be sent your new debit card in the post. You’ll be able to start using online banking instantly.
What overdraft options do RBS offer?
Like most banks, RBS offers both arranged and unarranged overdrafts. You can apply for an arranged overdraft, which allows you to go overdrawn on your account up to an agreed limit. A full credit check will be run to determine your eligibility. You might be accepted for an unarranged overdraft if you don’t have sufficient funds in your account to make a payment or access to an arranged overdraft. RBS charges interest on both types of overdraft. And going into an unarranged overdraft can lead to payments being rejected.
How much does an overdraft cost?
Representative example
A variable representative rate of 39.49% APR
A variable interest rate of 39.49% EAR
Based on borrowing £1,200
As an example, if you were to borrow £500, the interest cost would be £3.24 for 7 days, £13.87 for 30 days, £28.13 for 60 days.
Does RBS have a mobile app?
Yes. RBS’s mobile app makes everyday banking easier. Highlights of the Royal Bank app include:
- Safe and secure – safely login to your account with fingerprint or facial recognition.
- Quick – it’s the quickest way to view your transactions and balance.
- Easy – pay friends and family with account details, mobile numbers or saved payees.
