Making a claim

Lodging a claim as an Agria pet insurance policy holder is intuitive and easy. They offer multiple ways to claim: through the vet directly, online, by post, or pre-authorised.

The process starts with obtaining the claim form from Agria’s website. You can either get the vet to fill it out, or do it yourself. Here’s what will need to be included in the claim:

  • 1. Veterinary history

Upon making your first claim, Agria requires a full clinical history for your pet from all vets past and present.
  • 2. Vet assessment

A breakdown of what treatment was provided to your pet, along with invoices for the treatment date(s) you’re claiming.

The claims admin team will then assess your claim to verify all of the necessary documentation has been provided. In most cases, claims are processed within ten business days, and you can expect reimbursement within five days of the claim being finalised.

Other things to consider

Changes to your premium

Several factors can influence the cost of your pet insurance premium when you first take out a policy with Agria. These include:

  • Tick Icon

Age: younger pets often have lower premiums due to fewer health issues.

  • Tick Icon

Breed: some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions, which can impact costs.

  • Tick Icon

Location: veterinary fees vary by region, affecting premium costs.

  • Tick Icon

Coverage level: more extensive coverage results in a higher premium.

Agria’s premiums are fixed for the first 12 months of your policy, and they’re reviewed annually. However, claiming on your policy won’t result in your premium being updated — that’s a core part of Agria’s service. The premium may change for certain specific reasons:

  • Tick Icon

Changes in the overall costs required to run the business.

  • Tick Icon

Adjustments based on claims performance and scheme evaluation.

  • Tick Icon

Alterations to your circumstances, such as change of address or the age of your pet.

  • Tick Icon

Any updates to the Insurance Premium Tax (IPT) rate.

Payment options

Agria provides flexible payment methods, allowing you to pay for the policy in one lump sum, or spread the cost across monthly instalments.

Breaking down insurance excess

The excess is the amount you’re responsible for paying towards each claim you make. You’ll choose your excess amount when assembling your policy, and the general rule of thumb is the higher the excess, the lower the policy cost overall.

A fixed excess is the amount you’ll pay once per policy year for each condition your pet is treated for. The percentage or variable excess is applied after the fixed excess is subtracted, along with any other relevant deductions from your claim.

Contact Agria

If you want to speak to a member of the Agria team about a new policy, you can contact them on 03330 30 10 00. Lines are open Monday to Friday, 9 am to 6 pm.
